September 2026 GST Collections Reach ₹2.035 Lakh Crore
Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue in September 2026 reached ₹2,03,521 crore, marking a 14.7% increase over the same month last year. Net GST revenue, after devolution to states, stood at ₹1,76,520 crore—a robust 18.1% growth—reflecting improved compliance and economic resilience.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) attributed the rise to enhanced data analytics, better return filings, and crackdowns on fake invoicing. Revenue from import GST also showed recovery, signaling trade revival.
For practitioners, growing collections suggest a tightening compliance net. Companies should ensure real-time reconciliations, validate ITC claims using GSTR-2B, and address mismatches pre-audit. Rising numbers may also intensify scrutiny, particularly in high-risk sectors.
