SEBI Proposes INR-Based Fees for FPI & FVCI

July 5, 2026

SEBI proposes to replace USD-denominated fees for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) and Foreign Venture Capital Investors (FVCIs) with an INR-based system to simplify accounting.

INR-Based Fee Structure Proposed for FPIs and FVCIs

SEBI has presented a proposal to replace USD-denominated fees for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) and Foreign Venture Capital Investors (FVCIs) with fees structured in Indian Rupees. This change aims to simplify accounting practices and address challenges related to currency conversion and reconciliation.

The proposal includes a six-month transition period to facilitate the implementation of this new fee structure.

Clients operating in international markets should be advised on these changes as they could significantly ease transaction processes and administrative burdens related to fee payments.
