RBI Begins 75th Round of OBICUS Survey
The Reserve Bank of India has initiated the 75th round of the Order Books, Inventories and Capacity Utilisation Survey (OBICUS), covering the reference period of July to September 2026. The survey collects quantitative data on new orders, inventories, and production levels from manufacturing firms across India.
Since its inception in 2008, OBICUS has become a key input for assessing industrial confidence and capacity pressures, informing monetary policy decisions. The data helps map demand-side trends and identify emerging bottlenecks in supply chains, particularly useful during inflationary or contractionary phases.
Legal and policy teams in manufacturing firms may encounter requests for disclosure under statutory survey frameworks. While participation is typically voluntary, the aggregated results influence macroeconomic policy, which in turn affects sector-specific regulations and fiscal incentives.
