CBDT Authorises DGIT (Systems) to Upload Foreign Account Information
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has officially authorized the Directorate General of Income Tax (Systems) to upload foreign account information under the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) framework in Form 168. This update must be completed within 90 days following the fiscal year, ensuring timely compliance for stakeholders.
Form 168 is updated as TDS/TCS returns, SFT statements, and other tax payments are processed. The initiative aims to enhance transparency and compliance by streamlining foreign income reporting protocols.
Tax practitioners must prepare for these uploads as they will facilitate better monitoring of foreign income reports, reducing compliance burdens and improving adherence to international regulations.
